Hello, my name is Duane Christy and welcome to my web site. I want the opportunity to explain to you why I am running for Assembly District 22 and what I would like to do if I am elected.

The decision to enter public life did not come easily to me. I was leading a comfortable life as a husband, father and successful businessman. Essentially, I had everything I wanted and life was good. Then I realized I was too comfortable; I needed to stretch myself and I knew I needed to give something back to the community that I have come to love during my 20+ years in Southern Nevada.

The people who know me best would say that I have the integrity, energy and creativity that are needed in the Assembly during these trying economic times, and as somebody who has owned a profitable company for the last 12 years, I have the business expertise the county could trust. I feel the time has come for me to put all that I have to offer to work for the residents of Assembly District 22.

I think that if anything has been established during this political year it is that people across the country, including in Southern Nevada, want their leaders to find a different way of governing. The old methods, which produced the results now afflicting us, simply aren’t working anymore, and I want to be part of the demand for change that is sweeping our country.

So I am a member of the new breed of office holder who is not a professional politician; you won’t see my name on the ballot during too many future elections. I am a fresh face and a new voice, and I will make my contribution in the political arena for perhaps two terms, and then I will be gone. I will go back to private life knowing I made my contribution to the public good.

I have some ideas and some beliefs I want to share with you. I think the great majority of people in the district will feel the same way I do about some things but just to be sure I plan on doing a great deal of listening to the voters during and even after this campaign. I want you to feel that your views are being represented in the Assembly, and I want you to be confident that I will treat the position you have entrusted to me with the respect and honor it deserves.

Together, we can carve out a bright future for our children and ourselves. Please join with me, Duane Christy, in helping to bring about the change our district, our county, our state and our country so desperately needs.
